The only "explanation" it needs is that it's not Audrey's voice. She recorded her songs and was deeply disappointed when they decided to dub her in the end (even though Marni Nixon did a great job). It's a joy to see this clip after watching the Tonys last night which felt more like a Green Day concert than a tribute to musical theatre!
Ooo, I think this is a first, Danny. It seems that while I was busy visiting and commenting on your blog, you were busy doing so on mine. We ought to come up with some sort of word for that. "Blogendipity?" Anyway, thanks for the "explanation" about the dubbing. I had known that some of Audrey's songs were dubbed, but I didn't know that they all were.
I looove this song! In fact, this whole musical. Shame it's not Audrey singing, but it always amazes me that Julie Andrews could do such a great job when she so young.

Becky, yes, watching the clip made me realize it's been way too long since the last time I saw the whole movie.
ZM, sigh, indeed.
